retirement poem

eu estive pelo casement aberto
duas fileiras dos repolhos
um por um, como sae de uma árvore
macia agora a luz do dia
acima deles todos, olhando para baixo
eighty anos passaram, e mais
a noite é escura, e os ventos do inverno
uma vez este turf macio
sabe uma liberação barata
filhas do tempo
caído assim
desde que eu senti o sentido da morte
olhe para trás com olhos longing e saiba que eu seguirei
